The essentials in 30 seconds
Hit is a legendary assassin from Universe 6, over a thousand years old. His Time Jump allows him to subtract a very short interval from the normal course of combat, approximately a tenth of a second during his presentation, in order to move and strike before the opponent can react. The technique does not freely stop time forever: Goku circumvents it by predicting his movements, a power gap can reduce its effectiveness in the manga, and Hit must evolve his method in the anime. His deadly techniques are further limited by tournament rules.
Hit stands almost motionless with his hands in his pockets, then his opponent collapses after a series of impossible blows. This staging gives the impression of a teleportation or a total stopping of time. In reality, his advantage comes from a very brief temporal technique combined with centuries of assassin experience.
The manga and anime of Dragon Ball Super share the general principle, but develop its limits differently. The manga emphasizes the prediction of the prepared gesture and the resistance of a much more powerful fighter. The anime shows Hit increasing his interval, progressing in the middle of combat and using variations linked to a temporal dimension. Mixing all of these explanations together would produce a more absolute power than that shown in each continuity.
It is also necessary to distinguish the assassin from the participant. In his profession, Hit targets vital points and kills on command. During tournaments, killing is prohibited. He therefore fights with part of his arsenal neutralized, which explains why a sporting duel does not exactly measure his effectiveness on a mission.
Spoiler warning: This article reveals the Universe 6–Universe 7 tournament, the duel between Hit and Goku, an assassination plot specific to the anime and the Tournament of Power.
Hit, millennial legend of Universe 6
Hit is the most famous assassin in Universe 6. He is over a thousand years old, but his appearance and physical condition do not reflect this age. His calm, long coat and economy of gestures correspond to his profession: he hides his intentions, acts quickly and avoids unnecessary movements.
Champa recruits him as a major asset to his team for the tournament between Universes 6 and 7. Hit accepts in exchange for the God of Destruction's transport cube, a vehicle capable of traveling between universes. He therefore does not enter the scene out of patriotic loyalty or love of competition. His agreement resembles a contract.
The format of the test is detailed in the guide on the organization of the Universe 6–Universe 7 tournament. Ring-outs, abandonment and no kills profoundly change the way Hit can fight. A technique designed to eliminate a target must be transformed into a neutralization tool.
He first confronts Vegeta, whose Super Saiyan Blue is not enough to solve the riddle. Hit pauses his movements and hits specific areas before the Saiyan gets the rhythm. The Vegeta collection allows us to place this duel in the evolution of the prince: possessing divine ki does not automatically protect against an unknown technique.
A tenth of a second that changes everything
When presented, the Time Jump covers approximately one tenth of a second. This interval seems tiny in everyday life, but it is immense for fighters capable of exchanging dozens of blows at superhuman speed. Hit acts while his opponent remains trapped in normal continuity, then the result appears when time resumes.
The technique does not give him a hidden hour to think. In the manga, Hit must prepare the move he will make. During the fraction preceding activation, he can no longer freely change his choice. He therefore keeps his hands in his pockets and hides his legs under his coat so that the opponent can read his attack less easily.
This detail explains why posture matters. Hit isn't just trying to appear relaxed; it protects the information that Goku would need to anticipate. His experience allows him to choose an effective shot, enter the time gap and hit a vulnerable area with very little movement.
Time Jump is not Instant Teleportation. Hit briefly changes the timeline around the fight, as Goku moves towards a ki signature. The file technique on Hit's temporal displacement deepens this vocabulary and variants without transforming the two abilities into synonyms.
The Dragon Ball figurine collection allows you to compare poses. An immobile posture can express extreme mastery: in Hit, the threat comes precisely from what is not shown before the impact.
Goku predicts the move instead of becoming faster than time
After Vegeta's defeat, Goku observes how the technique works. He doesn't necessarily see everything that happens in subtracted time. He deduces the next attack from Hit's position, his habits and the most logical choice. He begins his dodge before activation.
This solution remains risky. Predicting a tenth of a second requires being right on every exchange. Hit responds by planning further himself and varying his actions. Their duel becomes a game of anticipation: each tries to anticipate the reasoning of the other rather than a simple speed race.
In the manga, Goku uses Super Saiyan God and reduces the effectiveness of Time Jump by a power gap. The duration Hit can affect him becomes shorter. He switches to Blue at the right time to obtain the necessary extra without suffering the cost for too long.
In the anime, Goku combines Super Saiyan Blue with the Kaioken to force his body to overcome Hit's time advantage. The operation and risks of this amplification are explained in the guide to the Kaioken. This combination should not be projected as is on the course of the manga.
Goku ends up voluntarily leaving the arena in some versions of the tournament, refusing a conclusion distorted by the rules and the intervention of the gods. Hit also understands that Monaka is not the champion announced by Beerus and accepts to lose without humiliating him. A respectful rivalry arises between the two fighters.
The Son Goku collection puts this fundamental quality into perspective: Goku doesn't just win through a transformation. He observes, tests a hypothesis and transforms a seemingly invincible power into a tactical problem.
Anime and manga develop different limits
In the manga, technique is strongly linked to power ratio. A superior opponent can reduce the useful interval and break the advantage. Goku exploits this principle by changing levels at the exact moment. Hit increases his own power output, but his body cannot sustain this intensity indefinitely.
In the anime, Hit improves his Time Jump during the duel. The interval grows and its progress surprises Goku. A later plot, unique to this adaptation, shows Goku hiring Hit to test his assassination methods. Hit then uses invisible hits and a time dimension where he stores the subtracted time.
These assassination episodes do not unfold the same way in the manga. They should not be used to assert that each version of Hit always has the same set of techniques. The central ability remains Time Jump; variations expand the idea depending on the medium.
The filmed fight between Goku and Hit also has an indirect consequence: Zamasu discovers Goku and is interested in the power of a mortal capable of competing with gods. The article on Zamasu's body swap places this viewing in the birth of Goku Black.
A figurine of Black Goku Rosé with his scythe evokes this consequence without attributing responsibility for Zamasu's project to Hit. The duel provides information; the criminal choices belong to the apprentice Kaioshin.
The Piccolo collection offers another example of tactical reading. Piccolo often analyzes the rules of a technique before seeking brute force. Hit takes this logic to the extreme by building his entire style on hidden information and anticipation.
Why Hit is more dangerous outside of tournaments
A tournament prohibits kills. For Hit, this rule removes precisely the attacks he has been practicing for centuries. It must strike hard enough to neutralize without definitively targeting vital organs. Goku understands that a duel without this constraint would show another level of danger.
The anime illustrates this difference when Hit receives a contract against Goku. He can employ a delayed strike and an attack that cuts through defenses in an unusual way. Goku anticipates his own momentary death by sending a blast of ki into the sky, then uses that energy to restart his heart. This sequence belongs to the anime and does not define all versions.
Hit, however, maintains a professional code. He does not kill gratuitously within the framework shown and respects the contract more than Champa's whims. His decision to let Monaka win, and then his respect for Goku, show that he knows how to act according to his own judgment. He is not an obedient robot.
Cabba provides a contrast within the Universe 6 team. He fights to protect and admires Vegeta, while Hit works for pay. The guide on the bond between Cabba and Vegeta shows the moral diversity of representatives of the same universe.
The broly collection allows us to compare the visual impact of explosive force to the discretion of the assassin. Hit does not transform his body into an imposing mass; he builds an advantage with a split second and a precise shot.
Jiren breaks the time trap at the Tournament of Power
Hit then participates in the Tournament of Power with Universe 6. He attempts to stop Jiren, the dominant fighter of Universe 11. In the anime, Hit creates a temporal cage with his blows and momentarily immobilizes his target. In the manga, he employs a time shift technique presented differently. The result converges: Jiren imposes his power and eliminates him.
This defeat does not mean that time has ceased to exist for Jiren. It shows that extraordinary energy and control can resist technique in the logic of Dragon Ball. The Temporal Leap is not an inviolable cosmic law; it is a combat ability with one user, one duration, and an opposing force.
The portrait on Jiren's refusal to trust explains why he prioritizes his personal power, even when he belongs to the Pride Troopers. Hit, also a loner, nevertheless agrees to coordinate certain actions with his partners when the situation requires it.
The entire tournament lasts forty-eight minutes, although the sheer number of actions stretches its narrative. The guide on the duration of the Tournament of Power helps explain why a tenth of a second can have enormous value in this arena.
Goku will then achieve Ultra Instinct, a technique based on an autonomous bodily reaction. The article on learning Ultra Instinct explains the difference: Hit appropriates a temporal interval; Goku seeks to remove decision time from his own body.
A representation of Injured Super Saiyan 2 Gohan finally reminds us that a decisive window can count more than a long exchange. Gohan concentrates his strength despite his injury; Hit builds its entire specialty around a microscopic window.
The Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu collection brings together adversaries whose regeneration or endurance would complicate the work of an assassin. Time Skip facilitates a precise hit, but does not guarantee that an atypical target remains neutralized.

Frequently asked questions about Hit
Does Hit stop time completely?
It subtracts or skips a very short interval to act. The technique is limited and can be preempted or broken. It is not equivalent to immobilizing the entire universe without duration or resistance.
Why does he keep his hands in his pockets?
In the manga, he thus hides the gesture he prepared before his Time Jump. His long coat also hides his legs, making it difficult to predict the attack.
How does Goku manage to touch him?
Goku observes, predicts the next move, and begins his response before activation. Depending on the version, it then adds a power gap or the Blue associated with the Kaioken.
Can Hit kill Goku?
Outside of tournaments, his assassination techniques are much more dangerous. The anime even shows a momentary death of Goku, prepared by him. This plot does not play out the same way in the manga.
Is Hit stronger than Jiren?
No during the Tournament of Power. His time trap briefly restrains Jiren, but he breaks free and eliminates him. The technique creates an opportunity without closing the overall gap.
Is Hit a bad guy?
He is a paid assassin, so his profession is criminal from the point of view of his targets. The story, however, gives him a code, respect for his adversaries and an autonomy that goes beyond the role of a cruel antagonist.
